Add an external volume

You can add to the appliance a volume that exists on a storage system under management of the appliance.

Prerequisites 

  • Required privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Storage administrator.

  • The storage system that contains the volume you want to add is being managed by the appliance.

  • The storage pool that contains the volume you want to add is being managed by the appliance.

  • The snapshot storage pool defined for the volume you want to add is being managed by the appliance.

Adding an external volume

  1. Do one of the following:

    • From the main menu, select Volumes, and select ActionsAdd.

    • From the main menu, select Storage Systems, and select ActionsAdd Volume.

    NOTE: The Actions menu is not present until you create at least one volume.


  2. Enter the data requested on the screen. See Add volume for more information.

  3. Click Add to complete the action or click Add + to add another volume.

  4. Verify that the volume has been added in the master pane.

After you add a volume, you can attach it to a server profile.
