Volume Templates screen details

If no resources are listed, you must create a resource. See Create a volume template.

General

Screen component	Description
Description	User-defined description for the volume template.
Storage system	Storage system that contains the storage pool to which the volume belongs.
Storage pool	Storage pool to which the volume belongs.
Snapshot storage pool	Storage pool from which to draw storage space for snapshots of the storage volume.

Screen component	Description
Capacity	Template capacity, in gibibytes (GiB).
Provisioning	Template provisioning setting: `Thin` or `Full`.
Sharing	Template sharing setting: `Shared` or `Private`.

Screen component Description

Name

Enter a name for the volume template.

Data type:

A maximum of 255 characters; no leading spaces

Description

Enter a description of the volume template (optional).

Storage pool

Select the storage pool in which volumes created from the template will be created.

Snapshot storage pool

Select the storage pool from which to draw storage space for snapshots of the storage volume.

Capacity

Enter the capacity for volumes created from the template: a value between 1 GiB and 16 TiB (tebibytes).

Provisioning

Choose the provisioning setting for the volume created from the template: Thin or Full.

Thin	Starts with a small set of block storage that expands to fill the volume as the space is consumed.
Full	The volume consumes the full capacity when you create it.

Sharing

Choose the sharing setting: Shared or Private.

Shared	The volume can be used by more than one server profile.
Private	The volume can be used by only one server profile. Can be used to boot from SAN

Screen component	Description
Require template for volume creation	Select this option to prevent volumes from being created without using a volume template. You can still add external volumes without using a template.
