Storage Systems screen details

If no resources are listed, you must add a resource. See Add a storage system.

Overview

General

Displays the general properties of a storage system.

Utilization panel

The appliance gathers utilization data on various metrics and displays them in the Utilization panel and on the Utilization screen.

For storage systems, the appliance gathers data on the following metrics:

  • Total storage capacity

  • Allocated storage capacity

  • Free storage capacity

[NOTE: ]

NOTE: The total capacity of the storage system might not add up to the sum of allocated and free capacities of the storage system if there are failed components.

The storage pool status graph indicates the health of the storage pools associated with the storage system.

The number for each status is a hyperlink to the Storage Pools screen filtered to show the associated pools with that status.

General

State

State of the storage system.

User name

User name with access to the storage system.

[NOTE: ]

NOTE: For HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems, a minimum user role of Edit is required for all domains of the storage system. The basic_edit role is not sufficient.

IP / host name

Host name, IPv4 address, or IPv6 address of the storage system.

Storage domain

User-specified virtual domain of the storage system. See the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system documentation for more information on virtual domains.

Model

Model name of the storage system

Example:

  • HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7200

Firmware

Firmware version installed on the storage system.

WWN

World Wide Name (WWN) of the storage system.

Serial number

Serial number of the storage system.

Used by

  • Number of storage pools associated with the storage system. The number is a hyperlink to the Storage Pools screen filtered to show the storage pools associated with the storage system.

  • Number of volumes associated with the storage system. The number is a hyperlink to the Volumes screen filtered to show the volumes associated with the storage system.

Storage Pools

Use the View selector to display this screen.

Status icon

Icon indicating the status of the storage pool.

See Status and severity icons for information on status icons.

Name

Name of the storage pool.

Allocated Capacity (GiB)

Space allocated to volumes in the storage pool.

Total Capacity (GiB)

Total space provisioned in the storage pool.

Capacity meter

Displays how much of the total capacity (gray) has been allocated (blue).

Storage System Ports

Use the View selector to display this screen.

Status icon

Icon indicating the status of the storage port.

See Status and severity icons for information on status icons.

Port

Port number.

Label

Label for the port, if any.

Protocol

Protocol for the port. Either FC for Fibre Channel or FCoE for Fibre Channel over Ethernet.

Expected SAN/Network

SAN or network to which you want to connect the storage system port.

Best practice: Use the Auto setting. Once cabling is complete, the actual SAN will be set and the expected SAN will be set based on the actual SAN. You must do this because unmanaged direct attach networks are not listed in the expected SAN/network menu.

If you do not want the appliance to manage a port, set the expected network to none.

Actual SAN

SAN or network to which the storage system port is connected.

[NOTE: ]

NOTE: The menu list displays the configured uplinks.

Actual SAN states

unknown

A cable is connected to the port but the SAN is unknown

none

No cable is connected to the port

Port Group

The port group the storage port belongs to, otherwise, the default is Auto, which selects a port group automatically.

You can use port groups to specify a set of storage ports to be used when you attach a volume to a server profile

Expanded details

WWPN

Port name.

Partner Port

The port(s), if any, that have been set as a partner to the port using 3PAR software (persistent ports).

Failover State

The failover state of the port. Can be none, failing over, failed over, failed, recovering, partner port failed over, or partner failed.

Add Storage System

IP address or host name

Host name, IPv4 address, or IPv6 address of the storage system.

Data type:

A maximum of 255 alphanumeric characters, and the special characters hyphen (-), period (.), and underscore (_)

Examples:

  • systemname

  • systemname.domainname

  • IPv4: 192.168.1.1

  • IPv6: fe80::1:2

User name

User name with access to the storage system.

[NOTE: ]
