Read community string

The string applied to all managed server hardware, power devices, and enclosures for retrieving information.

The read community string is a credential used to verify access to the SNMP data on the managed devices. The read community string is sent to enclosures (through their OAs) and to the servers (though their iLO management processors). Some older devices require manual host OS configuration.

Trap Forwarding
Component Description
Trap Destination The IP address or host name of the SNMP manager to which traps are forwarded. Both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported.
Trap Port The port number, from 1 to 65535, configured at the destination receiving SNMP traps.
Community String The shared community name for authentication that serves as a password for a trap forwarding destination. This should match the community string of the destination.

For the appliance to forward alerts, you must set the Community String and Trap Destination.

The port number, from 1 to 65535, configured at the destination receiving SNMP traps.
