On the Settings screen, the Addresses and Identifiers panel displays the number of currently available IPv4 addresses, MAC addresses, WWNs, and serial numbers. Click
Edit in the panel to add an IPv4 subnet and address range, to autogenerate additional ID pool ranges, or to create a custom ID range.
These fields apply to Add and Edit operations.
| Screen component | Description |
|---|---|
| Subnet ID |
IP address representing the network ID of the subnet. |
| Subnet Mask |
Bitmask that characterizes the subnet in which the range belongs. It is used in conjunction with the subnet ID to determine the network routing prefix. |
| Gateway |
IP address of the gateway. |
| Domain |
Domain name. |
| DNS |
IP addresses of the DNS servers. Up to 3 DNS servers are supported. |
| Associated Networks |
Link to the associated networks. The association is between the subnet and the VLAN ID. |
| Address Ranges |
List of address ranges. |
| Available addresses |
Number of available addresses for the subnet. |
| Name |
Unique name for the address range. |
| First IP address |
Starting address in the range. |
| Last IP address |
Ending address in the range. |
| Enabled |
Enable or disable the address range. By default, IPv4 address ranges are enabled. |
| Start |
A valid IPv4 address for the start of the range. |
| End |
A valid IPv4 address for the ending of the range. |
| Count |
Total number of addresses in the range. |
| Allocated |
Number of addresses in use. |
| Available |
Number of available addresses remaining. |
|
Edit the subnet and address range. |

![]() |
Remove the range of addresses and make them unavailable. You cannot remove a range or subnet that is associated with other resources or has addresses in use. |

A media access control (MAC) address is a unique identifier assigned to network devices, often referred to as the hardware or physical address. The appliance generates MAC addresses in pools of 128 to 1,048,576 elements. By default, the appliance has 1,000,000 MAC addresses.

| Enable Virtual (Edit screen) | By default, virtual addresses and identifiers are enabled so server profiles will be configured with virtual addresses and identifiers. |
| Type |
|
| Enabled |
If you enable one or more virtual addresses or identifiers, a newly created server profile will be able to use them. When you disable virtual addresses, server profiles can only use physical addresses and identifiers. There must be at least one enabled pool range. |
| Start |
Starting address in the pool. When you enable virtual addresses or identifiers, the predefined range is selected. The predefined range is large and randomly generated to prevent conflicts between profiles created in different realms. Supported MAC addresses are locally administered Unicast type addresses. Therefore, you have to set the second hex digit to an even number (2, 6, A, or E) to remain locally unique. Examples:
|
| End |
Ending address in the pool The second hexadecimal number in a MAC address custom range must be 2, 6, A, or E to remain locally unique. |
| Count | Total number of addresses in the pool |
| Allocated | Number of addresses in use |
| Available | Number of available addresses remaining |
| Remove |
Click X to remove the pool of addresses and make them unavailable. The X becomes visible when Count equals Remaining. |
| Add auto-generated button |
Generates a pool of 1 million identifiers. Button is available only when editing. |
| Add custom range button |
Generates a user-supplied pool of identifiers. Button is available only when editing. |

A World Wide Name, (WWN) is a unique identifier assigned to storage devices connected to a network. WWNs are generated in pools of 128 to 1,048,576 elements. By default, the appliance has 1,000,000 WWNs.

Starting address in the pool. When you enable virtual addresses or identifiers, the predefined range is selected. The predefined range is large and randomly generated to prevent conflicts between profiles created in different realms. IEEE Standard WWNs are used for the WWN pool, prepending Examples:

Serial numbers are generated in pools of 128 to 46656 elements. By default, the appliance has 46,000 serial numbers.
