Claim a server currently being managed by another management system

If a rack server is being managed by another management system, you can forcibly add the rack server to this management system (appliance).

This might be necessary in a case where you do not have access to the other management system to release the rack server.

To forcibly add a server blade, you must forcibly add the enclosure.


	IMPORTANT: Forcibly adding a server removes all current configuration settings. If the other management system is an HPE OneView appliance, you will not be able to regain control of the server without first removing it from management. To remove a rack server, see Remove a rack server from management.

Prerequisites

Claiming a rack server that is already managed

From the main menu, select Server Hardware, and do one of the following:
- Click + Add server hardware in the master pane.
- Select Actions→Add.
NOTE: The Actions menu is not present until you have added at least one server.
Enter the data requested on the screen. See Add Server Hardware if you need assistance with your entries.
Click Add to complete the action.
Select Force add server hardware if you are notified that the appliance cannot add the server because it is claimed by another management system.
Click Add to complete the action or click Add + to add another server.
Verify that the rack server has been added in the master pane.
