Logical Enclosures screen details

General

Screen component Description

Consistency state

The state of the logical enclosure.

Consistent

The logical enclosure is consistent if its configuration matches the intended configuration of the enclosure group.

Inconsistent with group

The logical enclosure is not consistent with the enclosure group. See reasons for inconsistencies in About inconsistent logical enclosures.

Creating

The logical enclosure is being created.

Updating

The logical enclosure is being updated.

Deleting

The logical enclosure is being deleted.

Enclosure group

The enclosure group to which this logical enclosure belongs. The enclosure group name links to the Enclosure Groups screen.

Enclosure

The name of each enclosure that belongs to the logical enclosure. The names link to the Enclosures screen.

Logical Interconnects

The logical interconnects in the logical enclosure. The logical interconnect name format is<logical_enclosure_name-logical interconnect_group_name>. The logical interconnect name links to the Logical Interconnects screen.

Interconnects

Screen component Description
Enclosure

Enclosure name is also a hyperlink to the Enclosures screen

Bay

The enclosure bay number in which the interconnect is installed.

Bay status icon

Indicates the status of the interconnect.

Interconnect

The interconnect name. For managed enclosures, the interconnect name is a link to the interconnect details.

Logical Interconnect

The logical interconnect name. For managed enclosures, the logical interconnect name is a link to the logical interconnect details.

Installed Module

The installed interconnect module, for example, HP VC FlexFabric-20/40 F8 Module.

Expected Module

The expected interconnect model, based on the logical interconnect.

Firmware

Screen component Description
Name

The enclosure name or the name of the component within the enclosure

Component

The enclosure type for which the firmware status is being displayed such as enclosure

Installed

The version of firmware installed on the component

Baseline

The firmware version in the selected firmware baseline. This is used to compare against the installed version.

See About firmware bundles for more information.

Configuration Script

Screen component Description
Text area for script

Field for entering Onboard Administrator configuration scripts. You can also enter a configuration script from the Enclosure Groups screen.

A copy of the configuration script is stored with every logical enclosure that is associated with the enclosure group.

For information about creating configuration scripts, see Configure an enclosure with an OA configuration script.

Update Firmware

Screen component Description
Firmware baseline

Select the firmware bundle to install.

Select Manage manually if you want to manage the firmware using a tool other than HPE OneView.

See About firmware bundles for more information.

Update firmware for

Select the component to be updated.

Shared infrastructure

Shared infrastructure is that which is common to all the servers in the enclosure. This option updates selected enclosures and logical interconnects.

Shared infrastructure and profiles

The default value. This option updates selected enclosures, logical interconnects, server hardware without profiles, and server profiles.

Onboard administrators only

This option updates only the enclosures.

If you update the logical enclosure firmware with the option Shared infrastructure and profiles, servers set with the following options are asked to be powered off:

  • Server hardware which does not have server profiles assigned

  • Server hardware which has profiles assigned, but whose firmware baseline is set in the server profile as managed manually or has been set to Firmware only

Force re-installation or downgrade

This field displays when you select SPP baseline.

Select Force re-installation or downgrade if you want to install a firmware version older than the version currently installed or if you want to reapply the current firmware.

[CAUTION: ]

CAUTION: Forcing a firmware downgrade might leave the server unusable and might result in slower installation speeds.

Affected Components
Name

The enclosure name or the name of the component within the enclosure.

The server hardware without profiles is displayed last in the list.

Component

The component for which the firmware status is displayed.

The location of the devices is displayed in gray.

Installed

The version of firmware installed on the component.

Selected

The version of firmware to be updated.

  • If OK is displayed, the selected baseline firmware is already installed.

  • If Update to is displayed, the firmware update action will update the component to this version.

  • If blank is displayed, the server profiles are without baselines.

  • The server profiles with baselines are displayed along with the associated server hardware.

Edit Logical Enclosure

Screen component Description
Name

Name for the logical enclosure, must be unique.

Configuration script

Field for entering a configuration script. See Configure an enclosure with an OA configuration script for more information.

Update from Group

Updates the logical enclosure configuration to make it consistent with its enclosure group and logical interconnect groups. HPE OneView updates the logical enclosure so it is compliant with its enclosure group, and then applies the logical enclosure configuration to the enclosures. For information on inconsistent logical enclosures, see About inconsistent logical enclosures.

Screen component Description
Resources affected by this action

Names of the enclosures and other resources that might be affected by the Update from group action. Each name is a link to the corresponding resource details.

[NOTE: ]

NOTE: The Update from group action might interrupt network connectivity for servers with server profiles that are using the logical interconnects.

Reapply configuration

Reapply the logical enclosure configuration to the enclosure associated with the logical enclosure. Reapplying the configuration does not make the logical enclosure consistent with the enclosure group. Reapplying the configuration takes the configuration currently defined in the logical enclosure and applies it to the enclosure. See Reapply the logical enclosure configuration for more information.

Screen component Description
Resources that may be affected by this action

Names of the enclosures, logical interconnects, servers, and server profiles that might be affected by the reapply configuration action. Each name is a link to the corresponding resource details.

[NOTE: ]

NOTE: The Reapply configuration action may interrupt network connectivity for server profiles that are using the logical interconnects.
