Initial configuration of resources in HPE OneView

Prerequisites

Configuring HPE OneView for the first time

  1. Configure the appliance network for the first time.

  2. Configure automatic remote backup.

  3. Add directory servers.

  4. Add users to the appliance.

  5. Configure the proxy settings.

  6. Configure remote support.

  7. Add licenses to the appliance.

  8. Add a firmware bundle to the appliance firmware repository.

  9. Add a SAN manager to the appliance to manage SAN storage.

  10. Create networks. Use Ethernet networks for data and Fibre Channel (FC) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) networks for storage.

  11. Create network sets.

  12. Add storage systems and storage pools to the appliance.

  13. Create logical switch groups.

  14. Create logical switches.

  15. Create one or more logical interconnect groups to define the connections between your networks and interconnect uplink ports.

    A High Availability (HA) configuration is the best practice configuration for logical interconnect groups.

  16. Create an enclosure group to define and maintain consistent configurations and to be able to detect and manage devices such as interconnects and server hardware in your enclosures.

  17. Add enclosures.

  18. Add rack servers.

  19. Configure data centers.

  20. Add racks and configure the rack layout.

  21. Manually configure unmanaged interconnects.

  22. Create volume templates.

  23. Create volumes and add existing volumes.

  24. Create server profile templates.

  25. Create server profiles to define common configurations for your server hardware.
