Enclosures screen details

The Enclosures screen displays a physical view of an enclosure and interconnect components, and lists its hardware specifications. For c7000 environments, if no resources are listed, you must add a resource. See Add a c7000 enclosure.

Displays information about the enclosure

Utilization panel

HPE OneView gathers utilization data on various metrics and displays it in the Utilization panel

HPE OneView gathers data on the following metrics for c7000 enclosures:

  • Power consumption (Average, Peak, and Power cap)

  • Temperature

In the Utilization panel, the meters depict the portion of the available capacity of the metric utilized during the last 24-hour data collection period sampled at five-minute intervals. Hover your pointer over a meter to see the value and time for that sample.

Click a meter to refresh the utilization graph for the metric.

The Utilization panel displays no data if there is no utilization data available for a metric.

Hardware panel

Displays information about the hardware in the enclosure

Front View

A graphical representation of the front of the c7000 enclosure, showing devices and power supplies. Hover your pointer over an individual bay for device information and a link for configuration details.

Rear View

A graphical representation of the rear of the c7000 enclosure, showing interconnects (for managed enclosures) and fans. Hover your pointer over an individual bay for device information and a link for configuration details.

The state of the enclosure:

Adding

Enclosure is in the process of being added to HPE OneView

Configuring

Enclosure is in the process of being configured

Configured

Enclosure has been configured (a logical enclosure has been created which includes this enclosure)

Monitored

Enclosure is being monitored for inventory and hardware status only

Removing

Enclosure is in the process of being removed from HPE OneView

RemoveFailed

HPE OneView could not remove the enclosure due to a connection loss or other error

Unmanaged

Enclosure is not currently managed or monitored by HPE OneView

Unsupported

Enclosure cannot be managed by HPE OneView

Model

The model of the enclosure

Logical enclosure

The name of the logical enclosure that is associated with the enclosure is a hyperlink to the Logical Enclosure screen.

A logical enclosure is automatically created when the physical enclosure is added in HPE OneView.

Server licensing policy

(for c7000 enclosures only)

The licensing intent for the serverHPE OneView Advanced, HPE OneView Advanced w/o iLO, or HPE OneView Standard.

Hardware

Screen component Description
Primary OA

The IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the Onboard Administrator (OA) are a hyperlink to the OA login screen, automatically logging you in.

Standby OA

The IP address of the standby OA is a hyperlink to the Standby OA login screen.

Location

The name of the rack in which the enclosure is located is a hyperlink to the Racks screen.

None is displayed if the location of the hardware is not available.

Powered by

The number of the power connections for the enclosure is a hyperlink to the Power Delivery Devices screen.

None is displayed if the power device is not available.

Serial number

The static factory serial number for the enclosure.

Part number

The static factory part number for the enclosure.

Maximum power

The maximum power for the enclosure, in watts, based on an estimated power supply efficiency rating.

Firmware

Screen component Description
Name

The location of the component, such as the enclosure, bay number, or interconnect, are hyperlinks to those resources.

Component

The enclosure component for which the firmware status is being displayed, such as server iLOs, server system ROM, interconnect module.

Installed

The version of firmware installed on the component.

Devices

The Devices panel summarizes the contents and status of devices in the enclosure.

Screen component Description
Bay

The device bay number for the device, such as server hardware.

For full-height or double-wide devices, the device is shown in the primary bay. All other bays which the device occupies are shown as subsumed.

The bay is empty if the panel is gray.

Hover your pointer over a bay to view more information about the bay.

Bay status icon

Indicates the status of the device and its associated profile.

Hardware

The enclosure and bay number for the device. The device is a hyperlink to the resource page. For example, if the device is a server, the hyperlink goes to the Server Hardware screen.

Model

The model name of the device

Server Profile

For configured or managed enclosures, a hyperlink is listed if a server profile has been assigned.

Interconnects

The bay number for the interconnect.

Indicates the status of the interconnect.

The enclosure and interconnect bay number, is a hyperlink to the Interconnects screen.

Number of fans required to support cooling of devices, and the specific bays that require fans

Device bays cooled

List of bays adequately cooled by current fan configuration

Bay

The bay number for the fan

Bay status icon

Indicates the status of the fan.

State

(for c7000 enclosures only)

State of fan, for example, OK. Other states are Degraded, Failed, Missing, and Misplaced

Required

(for c7000 enclosures only)

Fan required to support cooling of devices

Model

The model name; for example, Active Cool 200 Fan

The factory part number for the fan

Spare Part Number

Use the fan spare part number if you need to order a replacement

Remote Support

Once remote support is enabled, you can configure and edit the remote support settings.

Status

Enabled or will say Remote Support is not enabled on the appliance if you have not enabled remote support.

The IPv4 or IPv6 address for the primary or secondary OA of the enclosure

Action

Select whether you want to manage, monitor, or migrate the licensed enclosure.

Add enclosure for management

You can apply configurations, deploy server profiles, analyze operation status, collect statistics, and alert users to specific conditions.

Add enclosure for monitoring

You can view hardware for inventory and status information only.

You can migrate Virtual Connect configuration information for an enclosure into HPE OneView.

This screen displays when adding managed or migrated enclosures only.

A descriptive name for the group to which the enclosure belongs. See Before adding an enclosure for management for more information.

If you are creating a new enclosure group, assign it a unique name

Licensing

Select a licensing policy for the server hardware in the enclosure. This policy applies to all server hardware in the enclosure, except for servers that contain factory-embedded licenses. See About licensing and Server blade licensing at the enclosure level to learn more.

Add c7000 enclosure: Firmware

This screen displays when adding managed or migrated enclosures only.

Firmware Baseline

When adding an enclosure, you have the option to install a new firmware baseline.


[NOTE: ]

NOTE: Not applicable when migrating or monitoring enclosures.


  • If a SPP is specified, the OA and interconnects firmware will update to match the version in the SPP. The baseline is also set on each of the logical interconnects in the enclosure.

  • If you select Manage Manually, the OA and iLOs are automatically updated to the minimum required for HPE OneView. The baseline for the logical interconnects is Not set.

Manage Manually

Manual firmware update required 

Virtual Connect firmware requires a manual update after the enclosure is added if it is below the required minimum level or if the interconnect firmware levels do not match.

HPE ProLiant G6 server blade firmware is not updated when adding the enclosure to manage.

Older firmware version 

To install an older firmware version than the version contained in the SPP, you must select the Force installation option to downgrade the firmware. You might want to install older firmware if the newer firmware is known to cause a problem in your environment, perhaps as noted in the HPE OneView Release Notes

CAUTION: Forcing a firmware downgrade might leave the server unstable.


Add c7000 enclosure: Virtual Connect Manager Credentials

This screen displays when adding migrated enclosures only.

User name

The Domain Administrator user name for VCM so that HPE OneView and VCM can communicate. For example, Administrator.

Password

(For migration only)

The VCM password.

This screen displays when adding managed or migrated enclosures only.

Test compatibility

(For migration only)

When clicked, HPE OneView analyzes the VC configuration, compares it to HPE OneView parameters, and the enclosure group, if selected. Conflicts, incompatibilities, and warnings are identified and shown on a report.

The Migration Details dialog box displays a summary of the report. Click migration report for the detailed report.

Migration Acknowledgments

(For migration only)

A list of acknowledgments related to the migration. Each acknowledgment must be read and checked to proceed with the migration.

Screen component Description

Enclosure name

Descriptive name of the enclosure

When the name of an enclosure changes, the server hardware and the interconnects are assigned the new name. For c7000 enclosures, you can also change the name through the OA.

NOTE: Renaming the enclosure does not change the logical interconnect name. The logical interconnect name changes if the logical enclosure name changes.
