Update the appliance

Image files for appliance updates are available from http://www.hpe.com/info/hpeoneview/updates. The content delivered in the image file and the speed of your network connection determine the amount of time required for the download.


	IMPORTANT: The appliance will restart after it is updated. This restart will not disrupt the operation of the systems under management, but it will close the management console.

Prerequisites

Minimum required session ID privileges: Infrastructure administrator
Ensure that no other users are logged in to the appliance before starting the appliance update and that no one logs in during the update.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you create and download a backup file before updating the appliance. See Backup the appliance.
Create a VM snapshot of your system before you install an update file.

Updating the appliance firmware using REST APIs
Upload the firmware. `POST /rest/appliance/firmware/image` Start the firmware update. `PUT /rest/appliance/firmware/pending?file={upgrade file name}`


	NOTE: After the update is uploaded to the appliance, you can perform `GET /rest/appliance/firmware/pending` to retrieve the estimated time to complete the firmware update, and to determine if a reboot is required. To view the release notes and EULA for the update, perform `GET /rest/appliance/firmware/document-content/{tarFileName}.{suffix}/{documentType}`. For `documentType`, specify `release` or `eula`.
