You can configure the appliance to send an email message to notify you or others when an alert is generated. With this feature, an alert is compared against specified filter search criteria and, if it matches, the text of the alert message is sent as email to previously specified recipients.

You can verify the configuration by sending test messages.

The appliance provides for as many as 100 recipient and filter combinations, and there can be as many as 50 recipients in a single email message. With this flexibility, you can fine-tune which alert messages are sent and to whom. For example, you can configure the appliance to send Warning alerts to one recipient and Critical alerts to another.

Filters have the same syntax as the Smart Search box in the Activity screen, so you can copy and paste that information.

The appliance sends the email message in both plain text and HTML MIME types, which allows the recipient’s mail application to determine how they are displayed.

You can enable or disable this email notification feature, or you can enable or disable individual filter notifications, as required.
